Cinnamaldehyde CAS 104-55-2
Cinnamaldehyde (CAS 104-55-2) is the aldehyde behind the warm, spicy-sweet aroma of cinnamon, a pale yellow to yellow oily liquid that mixes with alcohol and oils but only slightly with water. Nearly all commercial material is the trans isomer, and the same molecule is sold either natural, separated from cassia oil, or synthetic. It flavors food and oral care products and also slows bacteria and mold, which puts it in feed, fruit preservation and biobased crop protection. UATChem supplies FCC food grade and daily chemical grades, natural or synthetic, in jerrycans, drums and IBCs. Tell us the grade, source and packing you need, and we will quote the matching lot.

What Cinnamaldehyde Is
Cinnamaldehyde is an aromatic aldehyde, the chemical behind the warm, sweet and spicy note of cinnamon and cassia bark. It is a pale yellow to yellow oily liquid that mixes readily with alcohol and oils but only slightly with water, and nearly all commercial material is the trans isomer. The same molecule is supplied either natural, separated from cassia oil, or synthetic, and both reach food grade assay. UATChem offers both sources along with daily chemical and feed grades.
Where It Is Used
- Flavor and oral care. FEMA 2286 food grade material gives the cinnamon note in confectionery, chewing gum, baked goods and cola or spice drinks, and it adds flavor plus mild antimicrobial action to toothpaste and mouthwash.
- Fragrance and personal care. It brings warm spicy notes to soap, perfume, air fresheners and deodorants within IFRA guidance.
- Animal feed. As a plant-origin additive it supports feed intake and gut balance in poultry and swine and holds down mold in feed within antibiotic-free programs.
- Crop protection and preservation. It serves as a biobased fungicide and nematicide, an animal repellent and a mold inhibitor for stored fruit and grain.
- Industrial and chemical work. It inhibits sulfate-reducing bacteria in oilfield and metal systems and is a starting material for fine chemical and pharmaceutical derivatives.

Storage, Packaging and Ordering
- Keep drums sealed, cool, dark and away from oxidizers; the aldehyde oxidizes to cinnamic acid in air and darkens in light, so fill full or under nitrogen and use opened drums promptly.
- The liquid is a skin sensitizer (H317), so wear gloves and goggles when pouring. A flash point around 71 °C closed cup puts it in ordinary cargo on most routes, confirmed on the SDS.
- UATChem packs 25 kg blue jerrycans, 200 kg steel drums and 1000 kg IBCs, with samples on request; COA, TDS and SDS accompany every order. In antibiotic-free feed it is often combined with Sodium Butyrate CAS 156-54-7. Send grade, source, quantity and destination port for a quote.
