Magnesium Sulfate Heptahydrate CAS 10034-99-8
Magnesium sulfate heptahydrate (CAS 10034-99-8), the familiar Epsom salt, is a white soluble magnesium salt in crystals, granules or powder. It dissolves fast and supplies magnesium and sulfur, so most goes to field and horticultural fertilizing, foliar sprays and soluble fertilizer blends. It also goes into feed, food (E518), bath salts, textiles and water treatment. UATChem supplies farm, feed, food and industrial grades in 25 kg bags, drums and 1000 kg FIBCs, with COA, TDS, SDS and samples.

What Magnesium Sulfate Heptahydrate Is
Magnesium sulfate heptahydrate is MgSO4 with seven waters of crystallization, a white, freely soluble solid. The crystals lose water and powder in dry air, so keep them sealed and dry. Magnesium feeds chlorophyll and sulfur supports enzyme work, so the salt corrects magnesium deficiency in crops. UATChem supplies crystal, granular and powder forms in farm, feed, food and industrial grades, with assay on the COA.
Agriculture, Feed, Food and Industrial Uses
- Fertilizer and horticulture. It is a magnesium and sulfur fertilizer used as base or top dressing, in foliar sprays, drip irrigation, soilless media and soluble fertilizer blends to correct yellowing from magnesium shortage, and as the Epsom salt gardeners use on tomatoes, roses and potted plants. It is often bought together with other sulfate nutrients such as potassium sulfate.
- Feed. It adds magnesium and sulfur to livestock and poultry diets and is used in ruminant feeding.
- Food and bath. As food additive E518 it appears in tofu coagulation, brewing water adjustment, baking and bottled water, and the crystals are widely packed as bath salts and foot soaks.
- Industrial. It works in textile dyeing and finishing, paper, ceramics and refractories, plating, batteries, chilled brine and wastewater treatment.

Packaging, Documents and Ordering
- Regular orders ship in 25 kg woven bags with a moisture barrier, food and bath grades in 25 kg cardboard fiber drums, and bulk volumes in 1000 kg FIBC bags, matching the photos. Keep the product sealed and dry so the crystals do not effloresce.
- Every lot comes with a COA, TDS and SDS, with assay, magnesium content and particle size on the COA. Food (E518), feed and pharmacopoeia supporting documents can be discussed by application.
- Samples are available for evaluation. To quote, UATChem needs the grade, particle form, quantity, packing and destination port.
FAQ
Q: What is magnesium sulfate heptahydrate used for?
A: Also called Epsom salt, it is a magnesium sulfur fertilizer for feed, food (E518), bath salts, textiles and water treatment.
Q: What is the difference from anhydrous magnesium sulfate?
A: The heptahydrate holds seven waters of crystallization and is Epsom salt; the anhydrous grade holds none and differs.
Q: What forms and grades are available?
A: UATChem supplies crystals, granules and powder in farm, feed, food and industrial grades, in 25 kg bags and 1000 kg FIBCs.
Q: How should it be stored?
A: Keep bags sealed and dry, as the crystals slowly lose water and turn powdery; this protects the product and particle size.
