Monopotassium Phosphate CAS 7778-77-0
Monopotassium Phosphate (MKP, CAS 7778-77-0) is a fully water-soluble P-K salt that growers rely on for fertigation, foliar sprays and hydroponics, and that food and beverage plants use as an acidity regulator and buffer. It feeds phosphorus and potassium without adding nitrogen, chloride or sodium to the program. We carry agricultural, water-soluble, food and industrial grades, with packing from 25 kg bags to 1000 kg ton bags.

About Monopotassium Phosphate
MKP is made by neutralizing phosphoric acid with potassium hydroxide or carbonate and crystallizing the salt. What matters in practice is that it supplies phosphorus and potassium together, dissolves completely for drip lines, sprayers and hydroponic tanks, and adds no nitrogen, chloride or sodium to the feed. One rule still matters in the greenhouse: phosphate precipitates with calcium and magnesium, so MKP stays in a separate stock tank from calcium nitrate and magnesium sulfate in A/B systems.
MKP in Agriculture, Food and Industry
- Agriculture and horticulture. Fast-uptake P-K for water-soluble fertilizers, foliar sprays, drip irrigation and hydroponics; supports flowering, fruit set and stress tolerance, pairs with Potassium Sulfate CAS 7778-80-5 in chloride-free feeding programs, and works as a seed-soak to lift germination.
- Food and beverage. Acidity regulator, pH buffer and potassium source in beverages, dairy, baked goods and processed meats (food grade, E340(i)).
- Industrial buffering and water treatment. Base salt for phosphate buffers in chemical processing, dyeing and electroplating; alkalinity control and corrosion-inhibition aid in industrial water systems.
- Fermentation and biotechnology. Phosphorus and potassium nutrient in microbial media for antibiotic, amino acid and industrial enzyme production.

Packaging, Storage and Ordering
- Grades: agricultural / water-soluble, food and industrial; state grade, assay, particle size, quantity, destination and document needs in your RFQ.
- Packaging: 25 kg kraft bags or fibre drums, 50 kg woven bags, 1000 kg ton bags and 1 kg foil samples.
- Store tightly sealed in a cool, dry, ventilated warehouse. MKP is hygroscopic and cakes on humidity exposure despite a 24-month shelf life in original packaging.
- Non-hazardous general cargo; wear dust mask and goggles during bulk handling. COA, TDS and SDS included; samples available; quotes within one working day. Related agricultural lines: Gibberellic Acid CAS 77-06-5 and Naphthalene Acetic Acid CAS 86-87-3.
FAQ
Q: What is MKP’s NPK analysis?
A: 0-52-34: about 52% P2O5 and 34% K2O, with no nitrogen, chloride or sodium.
Q: How is MKP used in fertigation and foliar spray?
A: Dissolve fully for drip or hydroponic feeds; 0.1-0.3% solution for foliar sprays.
Q: Can MKP be tank-mixed with calcium fertilizers?
A: Not directly. Phosphate precipitates with calcium and magnesium; separate tanks.
Q: What food and industrial uses does it have?
A: Food grade is acidity regulator E340(i); industry uses it in buffers and fermentation.
Q: How should MKP be stored?
A: Sealed and dry; it is hygroscopic and cakes in humidity despite a 24-month shelf life.
